§ Mr. SHORTTMy right hon. Friend has asked me to reply. The question of hours of work for women has been under consideration by the Committee on Women's Employment, but the Committee has not yet presented its Report. The question of child labour was fully debated on the Education Bill of last Session. Its employment under the Factories, Mines, and Quarries Acts is prohibited by Section 14 of the Education Act and will cease as soon as that Section is brought into operation. In other occupations it is allowed only to the limited extent provided for by Section 13 of that Act.
