Colonel THORNEasked the President of the Local Government Board what steps, if any, the Government is taking, in view of the shortage of houses, to protect the middle-class tenant from undue increases of rent; and whether, when it is decided to continue in force the Increase of Rent Act, he will take into consideration the desirability of extending its operation, so as to include houses of a rental value not exceeding £55 a year?
