§ Sir A. GRIFFITH-BOSCAWENThe Board cannot undertake to secure fixity of tenure for allotment holders in view of the fact that the land may be required for building in the near future. As regards land taken under the D.O.R.A. Regulations the Board intend to retain possession for two years after the end of the War, except where the land is required for building or where the compensation payable would be excessive. With regard to the second part of the question, local authorities are already charged with the Statutory duty of providing allotments, and it is proposed to extend their powers, of acquiring land for this purpose in the Land Settlement Bill.
