§ Mr. JOYNSON-HICKSasked the Secretary of State for War whether he is aware that French, Belgian, and Italian officers are now allowed to have their wives at the base where they are stationed; whether the order forbidding English wives to join their husbands is still in force; and, if so, whether he will consider the possibility of varying it so as to bring it into conformity with that of the Allies?
Captain GUESTThe order forbidding the wives of English officers to join their husbands is still in force as regards the base ports, though the restriction has been removed as regards certain places in the zone of the Armies. The possibility of allowing further relaxations of the order is at present receiving consideration.
