§ Major Sir E. COATESasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether the recent French Premium Bonds Loan was for £160,000,000 sterling, and whether such loan was over-subscribed immediately upon its issue?
Mr. CHAMBERLAINThe loan was for 4 milliards of francs nominal and issued at 99. At present rates of exchange this would be equivalent to something under £100,000,000. From statements ma-de in. the Press, I believe that the answer to the second part of the question is in the affirmative.
