§ Dr. ADDISONUp to the 1st December, the latest date for which figures are available, the number of houses on which work has been commenced was 3,005, and in 1,992 cases the foundations had been completed. The returns which I have received show that 4,900 working-class houses are being erected otherwise than under the Housing Acts. Timber-framed bungalows or wooden cottages are being erected by four local authorities, but detailed information is not at present available. With regard to the pisé method of construction, I cannot at present add anything to the reply which I gave on the 17th December to a question asked by the hon. and gallant Member for Southend-on-Sea.
