§ Mr. SPOORasked the Secretary of State for India whether the Shwe Dagon Pagoda is the most sacred shrine of the Buddhists of Burma; whether a part of this pagoda is in the occupation of the military; whether this military occupation is an offence to the religious susceptibilities of the Buddhists of Burma; whether the pagoda is of no value as a military fort; and whether he will take steps to secure that the pagoda shall be restored to the Buddhists of Burma for use for purely religious purposes?
