§ Mr. NEWBOULDasked the President of the Board of Education if he is aware 1066W that under the Statutory Rules for the Superannuation of Teachers in Scotland, 1919, Section 3, a teacher who is receiving an allowance under the Elementary School Teachers (Superannuation) Act, 1898, will continue to receive a retiring allowance equal in amount thereto, and also an additional allowance annually of £1 or 15s. or 10s. for each year of service; and will steps be taken to grant to all teachers in England now receiving a retiring allowance under the Elementary School Teachers (Superannuation) Act, 1898, an additional allowance, similar to teachers in Scotland?
§ Mr. FISHERAs I have explained, the systems of superannuation for teachers in England and Scotland are different and independent. The suggestion made by the hon. Member could not be carried into effect without legislation, which I do not see my way to undertake.
