§ Mr. MONTAGUThe hours of workers in Indian mines are not at present regulated by law, and no accurate statistics are, therefore, available. The Government of India. have recently reported on the best information available that the average weekly hours worked are not excessive—probably less than fifty. The average weekly wages are from 6s. 6d. to 8s.
