HC Deb 15 December 1919 vol 123 cc83-4W
Mr. G. BALFOUR

asked the Under-Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs what prospect there is of an early release from the United States ports of the "Cap Finisterre," and other boats, which are urgently needed for the repatriation of overseas troops to Australia and elsewhere?

Mr. HARMSWORTH

His Majesty's Government have spared no effort, and are continuing to use every endeavour, to obtain the delivery to the accredited representatives of His Majesty's Government of the steamship "Cap Finisterre" and the six other German passenger vessels detained in United States ports. It is presumed that delivery will take place as soon as the United States Government are in a position to fulfil their obligations in regard to the vessels in question.
