HC Deb 11 December 1919 vol 122 c1649W
Mr. T. WILSON

asked the Financial Secretary to the War Office if he is aware that Messrs. Wort and Wey, contractors, of Salisbury, who are doing work for the War Office at Salisbury Plain, are refusing to comply with an award of the Court of Arbitration, whereby the workmen employed by builders and contractors in the Salisbury district were awarded an increase of Id. per hour in their wages as from 8th November; that this and other firms are locking their workmen out; and whether he will remove this firm from the list of Government contractors?

Mr. CHURCHILL

Inquiries are already being made, and I will inform the hon. Member of the result as soon as possible.
