HC Deb 11 December 1919 vol 122 c1647W
Sir E. HUME-WILLIAMS

asked the Secretary of State for War whether orders have been or are about to be issued to the effect that officers in His Majesty's Guards are to provide themselves during the coming year with the pre-war uniforms of their regiments; and if he can state what will be the cost of such uniform to each officer, and what contribution the Government proposes to make towards such cost?

Mr. CHURCHILL

No orders of the nature indicated have been given. The resumption of full-dress, its cost and the grant of assistance towards its purchase, are matters which have recently been investigated by a Committee. The Report of the Committee has not yet been considered by the Army Council, and I am, therefore, not in a position to make an announcement regarding the last part of the question.
