§ Mr. BALDWINThe number of typewriters returned to the Stationery Office in the year 1st December, 1918, to 30th November, 1919, was 7,738. The number of returned machines on hand on 1st December, 1918, was seventy-one. Of the total of 7,809, 337 have been broken up, 2,267 have been reissued, and 5,205 are in hand awaiting examination, overhaul and repair. The total issues for the period have been 7,946, so that 5,679 new machines were issued, but this was mainly in the early part of the year before returned machines were available for reissue.
