HC Deb 04 December 1919 vol 122 c620W
Colonel WEDGWOOD

asked the Secretary of State for War if he will inquire into the case of Private Arthur French, No. 4097, No. 4 Southern Company, Non-Combatant Corps, who was tried by district court-martial at Nothe Fort, Weymouth, found guilty of conduct to the prejudice of good order and military discipline, and is now in Wandsworth Detention Barracks, serving a sentence of six months; and if, in view of the fact that the whole ground of complaint was caused by the man's wife and no evidence called to show any complicity on his part, he will have the sentence remitted and Private French set at liberty?

Mr. CHURCHILL

I am advised that there is no ground for interfering either with the finding of the Court or with the sentence awarded in the case referred to.
