Sir F. HALLasked the President of the Board of Trade if, in view of the handicap to British trade and industry caused by under production, the Government will appoint a Select Committee, representative of employers and trade unions, to inquire into the subject, and to submit a Report on the matter at as early a date as possible?
§ Sir H. GREENWOODThe problem of increasing production can, I think, better be dealt with by Joint Industrial Councils, where such bodies exist, and by the National Industrial Council, if and when it is formed, than by a Select Committee. It is a subject requiring continuous attention by those directly interested rather than a temporary inquiry by a Parliamentary body.
