HC Deb 02 December 1919 vol 122 c235W
Major BARNES

asked the Prime Minister whether the German troops are besieging Libau; whether an attack was made on or about 14th November, 1919; whether the Letts are holding the town; and whether British destroyers assisted the Letts by shelling the German lines and providing the Letts with ammunition?

The PRIME MINISTER

The German troops are not besieging Libau now, having been driven off. German-Russian troops attacked Libau on the 4th November. The Letts are holding the town. During the attack on 4th November, British destroyers opened fire on the troops attacking the town, and with good effect; they provided the Letts with a certain number of machine guns and ammunition for them.
