HC Deb 02 December 1919 vol 122 c239W
Major NALL

asked the Secretary to the Treasury whether girls engaged temporarily to replace men on active service have been establishd in the stamping department, Inland Revenue, with the result that male probationers now returning from the Army cannot be established?

Mr. BALDWIN

No, Sir. The appointment of women to established positions in the stamping branch (in which both sexes were employed before the War) was the result of a reorganisation of the branch as a whole, under which the position and prospect of the men serving in the branch in unestablished capacities were materially improved.
