Lieut.-Commander CRAIGasked the Secretary of State for War whether, on the formation of the Army of Occupation, accounts were transferred from General Headquarters to the Army of the Rhine; whether he is aware that since the transfer many officers have received no allowances whatever: and whether he will take steps to see that matters are put upon a more satisfactory basis?
§ Mr. FORSTEROwing to difficulties arising from the demobilisation of the personnel of pay offices, I fear there has been some delay in payment of officers' allowances on the Rhine. All possible steps are being taken to cope with the arrears.
