MACLEANasked the Pensions Minister whether Private Alistair M'Donal, No. 121102, Lothian and Border Horse, was discharged on 1st May, 1918, 1658W with a pension of 19s. 3d. per week; whether, while drawing his pension, he was admitted to Seaford Hospital, but was sent home incurable, and died on 26th October, 1918; if he is aware that this man was the support of his widowed mother, who drew 19s. per week while he was serving, and that she has received no pension and all letters to the Ministry remain unacknowledged ; and whether anything is to be done for her?
§ Sir L. WORTHINGTON-EVANSI cannot admit the facts stated in the question, but I regret to find that there has been inexcusable delay. Immediate steps are now being taken to award a pension to Mrs. M'Donal, and a telegram has been sent to her local committee authorising them to make her advances in the meantime.
