§ Mr. W. T. SHAWasked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Board of Agriculture if, seeing that the Board now admit that the importation of Canadian store cattle can no longer be prohibited on the ground that these cattle are especially dangerous to the health of our herds at home, but admit that the prohibition is continued as a protection to the cattle-rearing section of the agricultural community, he will say whether it is the policy of the Government to give protection to every section of the agricultural community; and, seeing that this prohibition or protection is maintained only under the Diseases of Animals Act of 1896, if he will say whether general protection is to be introduced by such means?
Sir A. BOSCAWENI am fully aware of the circumstances, but am not in a position to make any statement at present.
