§ Sir RICHARD COOPERasked the Secretary of State for War whether he is aware that a large proportion of the women clerks in the Army Pay Corps are desirous of obtaining their discharge, in order to resume their pre-war positions; and whether he will take steps to replace them by some of the men with clerical qualifications who are at present unemployed?
§ Mr. FORSTERWomen clerks in Army Pay Offices are allowed to obtain their discharge when their services can be dispensed with without detriment to the efficiency of the office. The majority of them cannot be replaced at short notice by men who have no knowledge of the work.
