§ Major PRESCOTTasked the Secretary for Scotland whether, having regard to the dissatisfaction amongst the officers of many local authorities in Scotland, he will undertake to issue an appeal to local authorities in Scotland, urging that the present Civil Service scale of War bonuses be granted to the administrative, professional, and 2573W clerical staffs of local authorities in Scotland whose War bonus is not now equal to that scale, in view of the fact that the Local Government Board of England issued a similar appeal on the 11th December to all local authorities in England and Wales?
§ Mr. MUNROThe remuneration of the officials referred to is charged, upon local rates and revenues and is not subject to my control. In these circumstances, while I have no doubt that the local authorities will give sympathetic consideration to any reasonable claims, I am not disposed, as at present advised, to issue a circular on the lines suggested.
