§ Sir WILLIAM SEAGERasked the Minister of National Service what was the total number of protection certificates from military service granted in the United Kingdom to employés of industrial co-operative societies after the issuing of the National Service Instruction, No. 123, of 4th July, 1918, which gave concessions to this particular class of traders?
§ Sir AUCKLAND GEDDESThe hon. Member is under a misapprehension. As I explained on a former occasion, National Service Order 123 of 1918 did not give concessions to the employés of industrial co-operative societies, but was designed to protect the retail distribution of food from dislocation through the ordinary working of the recruiting machinery.
