Colonel THORNEasked the President of the Local Government Board whether he will consider the advisability of allowing all candidates at municipal elections to send one communication free of postage to each elector, with a view to giving the same privilege to candidates for municipal elections as is given to candidates for Parliamentary elections; and if he will take action in the matter?
§ Dr. ADDISONAs at present advised, I am not convinced of the desirability of adopting the course suggested. I do not think a case has been made out for calling on the State to make a contribution to expenses incurred in local elections.
