HC Deb 03 April 1919 vol 114 cc1424-5W
Mr. MALLALIEU

asked the Secretary of State for War if 14 annas per month are deducted from the soldiers' pay at Poona for washing clothes; if there are few or no facilities for collecting or handing in washing; that if handed in there is no certainty of getting the same articles returned; that, in consequence, the majority of the men get their washing done privately, but still have to submit to the deduction from pay; and will he state what becomes of the money so deducted?

Mr. FISHER

The Secretary of State for India has no information on the matter, but will inquire.
