HC Deb 02 April 1919 vol 114 c1216W
Mr. M'GUFFIN

asked the Chief Secretary for Ireland if he has considered the Report of the Vice-Regal Committee appointed to inquire into the state of primary education in Ireland; and whether, in view of the important recommendations it contains, the Government will consider the advisability of introducing a Bill on the lines suggested by the Vice-Regal Committee?

Mr. A. W. SAMUELS

My right hon. Friend the Chief Secretary hopes shortly to make a statement on this subject.

Mr. M'GUFFIN

asked the Chief Secretary for Ireland whether, in view of the increased grant in this year's Estimate for English Primary Education, namely, £12,000,000, he can say if Ireland's claim under the provisions of the Equivalent Grant will be duly recognised; and, if so, what amount has been decided upon in respect of primary education in Ireland?

Mr. A. SAMUELS

The question of the future provision to be made for primary education in Ireland is at present under consideration in connection with the Report recently presented by the Vice-Regal Committee on the subject.
