HC Deb 02 April 1919 vol 114 c1227W
Mr. JOYNSON-HICKS

asked the President of the Board of Education whether the Government proposes to issue a national peace medallion for distribution to school children; and, if so, whether arrangements could be made for it to be struck by the hundred thousand and sold at cost price to the local education authorities who might wish for them?

Mr. FISHER

I will bear the hon. Member's suggestion in mind, but I have no evidence of a general desire on the part of local education authorities for the provision of such medals. I understand that it would not be practicable for medals for this purpose to be struck by the Royal Mint, the resources of which are already taxed to the uttermost.
