WILSONasked the Financial Secretary to the War Office if he is aware that Mr. Tennant, a contractor for carrying out certain alterations and repairs to the Castle and other buildings used by the military authorities at Cape Town, South Africa, is not paying any of the men employed 1632W on the work the standard rate of pay of the district, that the officer commanding the district states that he cannot compel the contractor to pay the standard rate, and that this is causing discontent among the workmen; and whether he will at once give instructions that the proper rate of wage must be paid?
