HC Deb 21 November 1918 vol 110 c3467W
Sir C. KINLOCH-COOKE

asked the First Lord of the Admiralty whether he will consider the services rendered to the country by the ships' companies of His Majesty's ship "Mariner" and His Majesty's ship "Reindeer," boom-defence ships stationed off Plymouth under the command of Commander Saul, R.N., from 2nd August, 1914, to 31st December, 1915; and whether, in view of the fact that those ships were the eyes of the Channel guarding Plymouth throughout the whole of this critical period, keeping watch nightly under arms in all weathers, lowering and raising the defence so as to allow battleships, cruisers, destroyers, etc., to pass in and out, he will recommend the ships' companies for the award of the new star 1914–15 for war services?

Dr. MACNAMARA

The conditions under which the 1914–15 Star will be given to officers and men in the Naval Service are at present under consideration. But I can give no undertaking on the point raised by my hon. Friend.
