§ Mr. PROTHEROThe entry of dogs into the United Kingdom is subject to the Regulations laid down in the Importation of Dogs Order, 1914. The dogs can only be landed under licence, and then must be detained in quarantine on the premises of a veterinary surgeon for a period of four months. The recent outbreaks of rabies have proved the necessity for the strictest precautions with regard to the introduction of dogs from abroad, and the Customs have been requested to exercise the utmost vigilance.
