§ Mr. SHORTTJohn Haughey was arrested on 4th October on suspicion of being connected in raids for arms at Beechhill, Londonderry. He was remanded by the resident magistrate for two days. The military failed to identify him during his remand, and it transpired he was a military absentee. On being questioned he refused to answer, and was handed over to the military authorities.
