§ Mr. FORSTERHalf-pay does not depend on time in the rank, except in the special case of a lieutenant-colonel who has completed his time in the substantive rank. Retired pay for service as distinct from disability always depends on substantive rank, though up to major, inclusive, the rates go by total service.
