HC Deb 21 March 1918 vol 104 cc1215-6W
Mr. CHANCELLOR

asked the President of the Board of Trade if he is aware that Germany, whose representative some years ago examined the Gatton system of transport and expressed his admiration of it as a means of quick mobilisation, has now adopted this system; and whether any and, if so, what means he proposes to adopt to equalise transport facilities between the enemy and ourselves?

Sir A. STANLEY

I am not aware that Germany has adopted the system of transhipment of goods on railways to which the hon. Member refers, and I have nothing to add to my previous replies on the subject.
