HC Deb 21 March 1918 vol 104 c1188W
Mr. MILLAR

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Food whether the practice of pickling eggs for consumption during the autumn and winter is to be regarded as hoarding; and whether, having regard to the interest taken in this question, he can make a full statement indicating the views of the Ministry of Food on the subject?

Mr. CLYNES

There is no objection to a person pickling and preserving eggs produced by his own birds. The question in what circumstances the pickling of bought eggs amounts to hoarding is a question for the Courts, and no expression of the views of the Ministry would conclude the matter.
