HC Deb 21 March 1918 vol 104 c1183W
Mr. T. WILSON

asked the Secretary to the Treasury whether the British and Allies Merchants' and Brokers' Association has recently made a further application to the New Capital Issues Committee for permission to issue shares; whether the application was refused; and, if so, whether, in view of the fact that other companies have been allowed to issue capital, he will state why permission has been refused to the above-named association?

Mr. BALDWIN

The answer to the first part of the question is in the affirmative. The application was refused because the Committee did not consider that it wag in the public interest that an issue of capital should be made in this ease.
