§ Mr. CROOKSasked the Secretary to the Treasury whether it has been decided to release for military service all clerks to surveyors of taxes of military fitness up to twenty-eight years of age, while at the same time all surveyors and assistant surveyors, irrespective of age or fitness or length of service, are to be retained; whether he is aware that many of the clerks who are to be released have had longer service than some of the surveyors and assistant surveyors, and have more knowledge of the work; and whether he will reconsider this matter with a view to taking into account only age, length of service, and military fitness, and making no differentiation between one grade and another?
