The following is the list of the war decorations awarded to the officers and men of the Royal Navy and Royal Marines—exclusive of the Royal Naval Division—since the outbreak of hostilities: 28 Victoria Crosses, 1 Order of Merit, 4 Knights Grand Cross of the Order of the Bath, 1 Knight Grand Cross of the Order of St. Michael and St. George, 26 Knight Commanders of the Order of the Bath, 17 Knight Commanders of the Order of St. Michael and St. George, 161 Companions of the Order of the Bath, 82 Companions of the Order of St. Michael and St. George, 433 Companions of the Distinguished Service Order, 27 Bars to the Distinguished Service Order, 853 Distinguished Service Crosses, 48 Bars to the Distinguished Service Cross, 57 Conspicuous Gallantry Medals, 2,490 Distinguished Service Medals, and 33 bars to the Distinguished Service Medal.
