§ Mr. SNOWDENasked the President of the Local Government Board whether arrangements have been made for the manufactures of kharsivan, neokharsivan, arsenobillon, novarsenobillon, diarsenal, and galyl for a supply of these salvarsan substitutes to local authorities; and, if so, what are the conditions under which they are supplied and used?
Mr. FISHERThe answer to the first part of the question is in the affirmative. These preparations are manufactured under the conditions contained in licences issued by the Board of Trade, and are tested by the Medical Research Committee before sale. The preparations are supplied by local authorities, free of charge, to registered medical practitioners who possess one or other of the special qualifications set out in the circular letter issued by my Department on the 29th August, 1916. I am sending the hon. Member a copy of the circular. The responsibility for the use of these preparations in any particular case rests with the practitioner in attendance on the case.
