§ Mr. ANDERSONasked the Postmaster-General whether he proposes to apply to the postal service the principles of the Whitley Report; if he is now in a position to state his policy on this question; whether he can explain the delay of his Department in view of the attitude of the various postal unions; and whether he is aware that private employers, who are officially urged to set up these joint committees, take the view that Government Departments should set an example in this matter?
§ Mr. ILLINGWORTHI regret I cannot add anything to the answer given by my right hon. Friend on the 29th May. The question of applying the principles of the Whitley Report to Government Departments is a matter which does not concern the Post Office alone, and pending a decision of the Government on certain general questions, I am not in a position to make any announcement.
