§ Colonel Lord HENRY CAVENDISH-BENTINCKasked the Financial Secretary to the War Office whether he is aware that the premises No. 43, Carrington-street, Nottingham, were required by the military authorities in June, 1917; that a claim made by the lessee, Mr. L. E. Sutherland, in respect of loss and damage was settled by the War Office valuer at £205 16s. 6d.; that after repeated applications for payment the lessee was informed by the Comptroller of Lands, on 16th January, 1918, that a payment of £50 had been sanctioned; and whether he will take steps to pay without further delay the total sum awarded by the War Office valuer?
§ Mr. FORSTERIt is not correct to say that this claim was settled by the War Office valuer. It is a matter for determination by the Royal Commission on Losses, before whom the case is now pending. The payment of £50 is a payment on account made with the sanction of the Commission.
