HC Deb 18 January 1918 vol 101 c610W
Captain CARR-GOMM

asked the Patronage Secretary to the Treasury if the representatives of the War Aims Committee who are sent down to confer with the local constituency committees are paid by the Committee; and whether the speakers sent by the Committee to the public meetings in the constituencies are paid according to the number of meetings which they address?

Captain GUEST

Conferences have been held in a number of constituencies at the request of the local committees. They have principally been addressed by voluntary speakers. Some of the speakers who have attended have also spoken at other meetings held on the same day. The lee paid to them is according to the days they are engaged, and not to the number of meetings they address.
