§ Mr. HAYES FISHERMy right hon. Friend has asked me to reply to this question. The matters referred to are not being lost sight of, and the hon. Member may be assured that all practicable steps will be taken with a view to a prompt preparation of a new register.
§ Mr. CLOUGHasked the President of the Local Government Board whether the preparation of the voters' lists under the Representation of the People Act, 1918, is now proceeding; and if he can state the earliest date upon which those lists will be available for use either at a by-election or at a General Election?
§ Mr. FISHERAn Order in Council will be issued as soon as practicable with a 495W view to the preparation of a new register of voters. The date to be fixed for the coming into force of this register is under consideration.
