HC Deb 14 February 1918 vol 103 c284W
Mr. THOMAS - STANFORD

asked whether, in the event of there being some improvement in the amount of sugar available, the claims of the confectionery trade to a mitigation of the reduction of 75 per cent. in its supplies will be considered?

Mr. CLYNES

There is no prospect of any improvement in the national stocks of sugar so long as the War continues or of a larger quantity being furnished to the confectionery trade than the 25 per cent. of its 1915 allowance which it has received since last spring.
