HC Deb 14 February 1918 vol 103 c301W
Mr. JOYNSON-HICKS

asked the President of the Board of Trade whether he has had any Report from the Canal Control Committee as to the increased use of the inland waterways of the country; and whether he would consider the appointment of a central authority with Parliamentary powers to deal with the improvement and development of the waterways of the country?

. Mr. WARDLE

As regards the first part of this question, I would refer the hon. Gentleman to the detailed account of the operations of the Canal Control Committee, given in the "Board of Trade Journal" for the 10th January, of which I am sending him a copy. As regards the second part, I am afraid I cannot add to the reply given on the subject to the hon. and gallant Member for Gloucester on the 14th November by my right hon. Friend the Minister of Reconstruction.
