HC Deb 14 February 1918 vol 103 c291W
Major DAVIES

asked the Under-Secretary of State for War whether Lieutenant-Colonel Charles A'Court Repington, military correspondent to the "Morning Post" newspaper, has completely severed his connection with the Army; if so, on what date and under what circumstances; whether he is still entitled to wear uniform at home or abroad; and whether he is permitted to describe himself as lieutenant-colonel in the articles which he contributes to the journal with which he is now connected?

Mr. MACPHERSON

He is a retired officer, and no longer liable to recall for service. He retired from the Service in 1902 on his own application. As a retired officer he has the right to his rank, and is entitled to wear uniform. During the War the occasions on which he may wear uniform are restricted to those when he is employed in a military capacity and to ceremonial occasions of a military nature. He is not entitled to wear uniform abroad without special permission.
