§ Mr. MUNROThe information asked for is given in the tables appended. The figures in columns 2 and 3 in each case include the cost of prison officers' quarters, but do not include any payment for labour of prisoners employed on the works. Against the expenditure incurred is to be set (1) a total net sum of £29,098 16s., accruing to the State in respect of adjustments with local prison authorities under Sections 18 and 19 of the Prisons (Scotland) Act, 1877, and (a) a total sum of £31,196 18s. 8d. received for the sale of closed prisons.
