HC Deb 17 April 1918 vol 105 c412W
Admiral of the Fleet Sir HEDWORTH MEUX

asked the Secretary to the Admiralty whether he is aware that a War Office letter, 45/B.F./566, issued 22nd January, 1918, authorised payment of a sum not exceeding £5 for the proper burial of discharged men when death is attributable to military duty during the present War; and whether he can see his way to recommend a payment to relatives of deceased discharged sailors of a similar burial Grant?

Dr. MACNAMARA

The answer to the first part of the question is in the affirmative. Burial Grants are already made by the Admiralty to the relatives of discharged naval ratings on the same terms and conditions as those made by the War Office.
