HC Deb 15 April 1918 vol 105 c53W
Lieutenant-Commander NORMAN CRAIG

asked the Pensions Minister whether he will consider the desirability, in anticipation of an election either during the continuance of war or shortly following its termination, of introducing a short Bill making the promise of endeavour on the part of a candidate for election to the House of Commons to procure a higher rate of pension to discharged or disabled sailors or soldiers a corrupt or an illegal practice?

Mr. HODGE

While I appreciate the motive of the hon. Member's suggestion, I find myself unable, I regret, to look on it as one to which it would be practicable to give effect.
