Lieutenant-Commander NORMAN CRAIGasked the Pensions Minister whether he will consider the desirability, in anticipation of an election either during the continuance of war or shortly following its termination, of introducing a short Bill making the promise of endeavour on the part of a candidate for election to the House of Commons to procure a higher rate of pension to discharged or disabled sailors or soldiers a corrupt or an illegal practice?
§ Mr. HODGEWhile I appreciate the motive of the hon. Member's suggestion, I find myself unable, I regret, to look on it as one to which it would be practicable to give effect.
