§ General Sir IVOR PHILIPPSasked the Secretary to the Admiralty whether he can now give any information concerning the decision arrived at by the Admiralty regarding the payment of compensation for articles of kit supplied by seamen to meet the wants of survivors rescued by them at sea?
§ The PARLIAMENTARY SECRETARY to the ADMIRALTY (Dr. Macnamara)It has been decided that naval ratings who provide out of their own kits articles of clothing to meet the necessities of other ratings who are survivors from action, etc, or of persons who are saved from merchant or other vessels, are to receive compensation to the full value of the articles surrendered, so as to enable replacements to be made without cost to themselves. Instructions to this effect have been issued to the Fleet.
