HC Deb 09 April 1918 vol 104 cc1332-3W
Captain WRIGHT

asked the President of the Board of Agriculture if he will introduce and pass into law a Bill to prevent any notice to give up a farm coming into operation except with the consent of the occupier until the quarter day named in such notice which occurs first after six months have elapsed after the termination of the War, provided the occupier of such farm on receipt of such notice applies to and receives from the war agricultural executive committee of his county a certificate that his farm is being cultivated in the national interest and to the satisfaction of such executive committee?

Mr. PROTHERO

In reply, I would refer my hon. and gallant Friend to the reply given to the right hon. the Member for South Molton on the 18th February last. I am not satisfied, after careful consideration, that a sufficiently strong case for the introduction of such legislation in the interests of the nation's food supply has been made out.
